Team Up for Nonprofits presents Gigs4Good #5 featuring Kris Orlowski Band w- the Passenger String Quartet & Star Anna benefiting Climate Solutions

A sold out crowd witnessed a very special night of music as Seattle’s own Kris Orlowski performed alongside the Passenger String Quartet with the very talented Star Anna opening the night to benefit Climate Solutions. The night was hosted by the wonderful Kim Holcomb (Evening Magazine) at one of Seattle’s best and most unique live music venues, The Triple Door.

Climate Solutions mission is to accelerate practical and profitable solutions to global warming by galvanizing leadership, growing investment and bridging divides. Climate Solutions leads climate and clean-energy initiatives in the Northwest, and builds a strong base for national action. The organization works with business, environmentalists, agriculture, government, and public interest groups. Funds raised will support Climate Solutions’ campaign of education, communication, organizing and advocacy throughout the Northwest. Their Civic Engagement Project will recruit and mobilize a diverse network of grassroots advocates in the growing campaign for climate policy action. They will inspire people to individual action and connect them to the larger climate movement.

Seattle-based singer/songwriter Kris Orlowski and band brought their acoustic folk-rock and indie-pop to the Triple Door and provided a very special show performing with the Passenger String Quartet. Drawing comparisons of Paul Westerberg and Elliot Smith, Kris Orlowski delivered the kind of headlining performance many will remember, particularly when he performed an acoustic cover of Van Morrison’s “Into the mystic” standing on a table out in the crowd. The Passenger String Quartet led by Andrew Joslyn who accompanied the band throughout the full set provided a beautiful depth to Kris’s songs and completed a wonderful night. The quartet included stalwart string players; Alina To, Seth May-Patterson, Danah Olivetree, with Joslyn, writing the arrangements.

Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready said is best about Star Anna… “Star Anna is an American original. I am a huge fan of her music and especially her voice. She sings from a place of beauty and pain that translates to my soul and takes me to a higher place. Wherever Star and the Laughing Dogs play I go when I am in town. Her CD’s rarely leave my player.”  Now we feel the same way too!  Star Anna’s set was a testament to her talent and had the crowd enthralled.
