Team Up for Nonprofits presents Gigs4Good #3 featuring Po’Girl w/ JT Nero, Benefiting Bike Works

Gigs4Good: Po’Girl w/ JT Nero, Benefiting Bike Works

Gigs4Good:  You buy the ticket.  We bring the music.  Nonprofits get the money.

September 16, 2010

Over 250 supporters experienced an intimate evening with the amazing musical talents of Canada’s Po’ Girl while supporting one of Seattle’s favorite nonprofits, Bike Works, at one of Seattle’s most unique live music venues, The Triple Door.

Bike Works’ mission is to build sustainable communities by educating youth and promoting bicycling. Since 1996, their programs for youth and adults, community partnerships at home and abroad, and full-service repair shop have promoted bicycling as a clean and healthy transportation alternative. Proceeds from this concert will be used to fund one Earn-a-Bike course, where twelve youth will spend eight weeks learning the basics of bike repair and use their time to restore bicycles. Each youth who completes the program gets a bike of their own and the ones they refurbished are donated to local charitable organizations.

Po’ Girl is urban roots music from Canada with a world music sensibility, compassionate spirit, and joyous sound. Allison Russell, Awna Teixeira, Benny Sidelinger, and Mikey “Lightning” August each contribute a distinct voice and multiple instruments to their poetic tunes and harmonies. The band recently toured the U.S., Canada and Europe to help raise awareness of domestic violence. Po’ Girl will be joined by the talented JT Nero, lead of the Chicago-based band JT and the Clouds and collaborator on Po’ Girl’s most recent album, Follow Your Bliss.

Team Up for Nonprofits is here to connect deserving nonprofits with passionate musicians and offer events that make giving fun and accessible for everyone. Gigs4Good will bring talented bands to the best venues in the city and give people an exciting way to be part of a worthy cause. With Team Up, you buy the ticket, we bring the music, and nonprofits get the money!
